After Ski School - Pay to Ski for Pine Creek Ski Resort in Cokeville

There has been some confusion, that started yesterday (Thursday) with an announcement made at the elementary school that said something like: Children have been staying after Ski School on Friday and have not been paying the fee to ski half a day. Please do not stay after ski school if you don't have money to pay the fee.

Many children went home with the verbal message. Some were upset. Many parents were upset at the idea that the family was perhaps being labeled as dishonest because they had not paid for their children to stay and ski at Pine Creek when ski school ended.

The papers sent home by the PTO indicated there would not be a charge for children to stay the remainder of a ski school day.

According to a telephone message by Shelly Gailey of the PTO, both the announcement at school Friday and the written note sent home at the beginning of ski school have changed.

TODAY January 23 2009 ONLY, one more time, children may stay and ski free at Pine Creek. However, that will be the last day of free-ski half days.

Please contact Pine Creek Ski Area or a member of the PTO to verify this information

Thanks Karla for helping pass along this message.
When I first heard about the anouncement made at the school I made a few phone calls. A few people from the Pine Creek staff indicated to me that it has been their policy for years that kids have to pay to stay and ski after ski school (although one said it was the first they had heard that) but of all the parents I spoke to-all but one (who has been a Pine Creek employee) said they thought it was free, and always had been.
The paper work that was sent home this year did say it was free to stay and ski. Just so their is no confusion- that did not come from the PTO. I am still trying to find out if that was typed up by the school or the ski resort.
Obviously there has been some problems with the communication between the Ski resort and the school/students, and we are trying to work this out.
I did make it very clear to anyone I spoke to that NO ONE was trying to be dishonest or get away with not paying- parents (including myself) honestly thought that staying after ski school to ski was one of the benefits they recieved when they signed their kids up for ski school.
