Advanage - The Wonder Cleaner

I'm just curious...how many people bought a bottle, or more, of Advanage, The Wonder Cleaner from the door to door salesman yesterday?

He gave his very rehearsed script, including the "excuse me, I'm new at this and very, very nervous". Even when I told him I don't buy products sold door to door he stayed very polite, "That's ok, we have a website. Let me finish showing you." He wasn't at all pushy. When he mentioned that it makes for only .85 cents a bottle, or whatever, I knew that it was probably $40 for the undiluted stuff. (I never found out the price)

SO, how many bought it? I asked him why he would spend time here. The obvious answer, door to door sales do very well in our area. I think he said they were staying in Heber, Utah.

My only two "makes you go hmmmm" moments came after he left. The first on his test bottle, what strength was it? The one capful to one bottle of water or the 2 to 1 strength (what I'm betting). Obviously 2 water to 1 Advanage dilution is a lot more than the .85 a bottle,or whatever. His test spray sure shined up my window and didn't streak. The brochure says 1 quart to 1 capfull (sic) for window cleaner. His bottle looked mighty green for only one capful...

The second was we got a little on politics and he said that there was a bombing in Frankfurt just 3 1/2 months ago. I said really? I hadn't heard that. He replied something like, "that's the stuff they don't want you to know about. They keep it out of the news so we don't realize it's out there. Then we keep our people in Iraq". Well, having lived in Germany, been to Frankfurt, and very interested in getting our troops home, I tried to find a bombing more recent than about 1985 in Frankfurt, couldn't find it. Makes you go hmmmm.

WANTED: Barbershop Quartet Voices. I am in search of participates for a Barbershop Quartet to perform on the 4th of July this year. If you, or you know of someone, would be interested, please contact me ASAP. This will be a fun day in the park and I think a Barbershop Quartet would be the "cherry on the cake" for this fun event.

Missing Trucker Found

Clark Sutherland, a Canadian truck driver, went missing on May 30, 2008. His 2000 Freightliner and all. Just disapperared.

His last fill-up was at the gas station in Cokeville. He called his wife and said he wasn't feeling well. Then, he disappeared. Obviously the family was very, very worried and even traveled his route to Cheyenne handing out fliers. He was said to have never missed a date on a load since he started in 1961 according to this story.

According to this article, Wyoming Highway Patrol couldn't find him, they checked major routes and hospitals. Last night, a truck driver found him dead in his truck at a rest area on 80. I'm glad the family gets closure after a week of uncertainty, but, No one checked the rest areas???

Chamber of Commerce, Arts Crafts Business Fair!

The Cokeville Chamber of Commerce is sending out it's initial mailing this week for vendors. All vendors from last year will receive a notice. If you are interested in having a booth, please contact Karla Toomer at 307 279 3471 and she can email or mail you a form.

This is a lot of fun! It's a great weekend to be in Cokeville, with the LDS Church celebrating Pioneer Days on Saturday there are lots of people in town.

This year the fair will be held at the town park and it's not too early or too late to reserve your booth space! Very modest registration fee.

Cokeville Art Reproductions

Chamber of Commerce Meeting

The Chamber of Commerce met briefly after the presentation of the Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement presentation on Wednesday, June 4th. They discussed the Welcome to Cokeville sign to be place south of town. The rock place is still trying to get the size rock needed, weather has slowed down their ability to get our rock. Also, we need well casing, 2 - 18 ft. long pieces, 2 - 16 foot long pieces, 2 - 14 foot long pieces, if anyone has access to this we would appreciate it!

The Chamber and some visitors got a chuckle out of the town minutes from May where a church and state conflict was very evident. Others didn't get such a chuckle.

There is always room for more and the Cokeville Chamber welcomes new members, business owners and citizens interested in helping with the "welcome and tourism" part of the Chamber.


Chamber officers are: Carol Reed, Secretary, Stewart Petersen, President; Paul Phillips, Vice President; Clara Dayton, Treasurer.

Lois Dayton, Lifetime Achievement; Jan Moody, Citizen of the Year '07

The Cokeville Chamber of Commerce held it's annual awards night on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the Cokeville Town Hall. Honored were Jan Moody who received the Citizen of the Year for 2007 and Lois Dayton who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Paul Phillips, VP for the Chamber and chair of the Awards Night committee was the Emcee for the evening. Jan had a tribute read by her husband Darren. Lois had a tribute read by daughter Carol Petersen. It was a wonderful evening. Thanks Chamber of Commerce for recognizing these individuals. Thanks to the two wonderful ladies for their service and example to Cokeville. The Chamber of Commerce accepts nominations year round for these two awards so please fill in your nominee!

4th year girl's hike

4th year campers from the LDS church were able to have their 4th year overnight hike recently. It was a great time. The stars were beautiful, hike was fun, and company was wonderful! Thanks Bishop Dayton of the 1st Ward for coming along and putting up with all the girls.
