A "restaurant review" on Flying J's Country Market
This is interesting. A blogger did a "restaurant" review on Cokeville's own Country Market, located at the Flying J. You can read the review by clicking here. Way to make the internet in a positive way!
Great article speculating about Chad Teichert
There is a great article speculating on the abilities of Chad Teichert. Its title, "Teichert Says He's Ready" (click here to view article on IdahoStateJournal.com dated Monday, June 23, 2008) says it all. Those who have ever been around Chad know that he is ready and he will definitely be able to handle everything the article mentions, and more. Again, good luck Chad! We're cheering you and your new team on!

Old School Bell Returns
Principal Keith Harris and Cokeville Historical Society President Charlotte Freeman jointly accepted a bell donated from Ron and Lori Ann Hoffman of Bennington, Utah via their aunt and uncle Roger and Janene Pugmire of St. Charles, Idaho. The bell had been on the family farm for fifty years. The school will display the bell and the historical society will ensure the bell remains in Cokeville! Thank you for the fun gift!
You can read an (edited!) article on the bell's return in the June 19, 2008 Kemmerer Gazette.
Look for article in entirety in the near future on this site.

County Commissioners are People, too
I visited briefly with our Lincoln County Commissioner's after a budget planning meeting in Cokeville recently and they looked exhausted! They had met with many people that day. They had family lives and other obligations to get to that evening. And, they had started out the day trying to finalize the SLIB Consensus Grant along with the municipalities of Lincoln County!
I've had the opportunity to get to know all three of our commissioners, each who are passionate about what they do and their reasons for serving others. Some emails and other correspondence have been aimed at them recently regarding property tax.
Hey, let's all remember that county commissioner's are people too. They are mortals, just like us. They do not control the universe, not even the Lincoln County Universe. There is no "agenda" other than to do public service in the way they see best. Honestly, I was pretty shocked at how worn out they appeared and then I heard all that they had been up to lately and the shock turned into awe.
I want to say thank you to Tammie Archibald, Kent Connelly, and Jerry Harmon for their service to Lincoln County, Wyoming.

Aaron Gailey Hired as 3rd Police Officer
I spoke briefly with councilman Darren Moody after the town council held it's (advertised-thank you) special meeting to make a decision on hiring a 3rd police officer. Mr. Moody said that Aaron Gailey had been selected to fill the new position on the Town of Cokeville Police Department. He will start July 1st and will need to attend the upcoming Wyoming Police Academy.
Congratulations Aaron!
Congratulations Aaron!

Steve Taylor Retires
I know this post is a little late, but Steve Taylor couldn't slip out of Cokeville High School without a blog post about his retirement. It wouldn't be right!
A retirement part was held for Steve at the end of the school year at the Cokeville high school commons area. Family attended the party as well as staff and spouses of the Cokeville Schools. Steve was presented with a beautiful print of Cokeville. I had to slip out early so if anyone wants to add more details to this post, that would be great!
Good luck Mr. Taylor and thank you!

Jackson Lake
A short few hour drive and you too can enjoy this beautiful view of the Teton's from Jackson Lake. We are so lucky to live in Cokeville, Wyoming - so close to National Parks, National Forests, and so much more! (FYI, cost is $50 for a one year unlimited pass for unlimited entry to Teton/Yellowstone National Parks. Camping for one night is $18.)
Happy Father's Day!
As this Father's Day comes to a close, I hope all fathers were wished a very happy father's day! There were dads at church. There were dads out for bike rides. There were dads out for walks. I bet a lot of dads got a good nap in and others waited by the phone for kids to call! Happy Father's Day
Welcome Home Scott!
Just wanted to send out a big welcome home to Scott Dayton who recently returned from an LDS mission!

Just a little bit kinder...
I wonder what would happen if everyone was just a little bit kinder today. This can be kinder than we would normally be or perhaps kinder than we really want to be at a particular moment. Would it make a difference in anyone's life?
What if we weren't so defensive, right off the bat. Might there be a little more understanding between each other? Defensiveness often comes across as unkindness. Instead of getting defensive perhaps we can just pause, and wonder why someone might have asked or said what they did? Put ourselves in their shoes and see another perspective...would it make anyone's day go a little smoother?
This isn't an easy thing and that is why I am just wondering, not really committing to anything. I think my husband and I will go for a ride today so it shouldn't be really that tough as we get along very well. And where we are going there won't be very many people, if any, around, so if I really want success, today might be a good day to try.
I visited with several people in our nice town of Cokeville lately and if there was just a little more kindness in their lives, there lives would be a little brighter.
That's something we can all live with.

Cokeville mentioned in newspapers, again!
This morning in my inbox was this article in the Deseret News by Larry A. Sagers about a lady with a really fun garden. It was in my inbox because in the article, the lady says she learned to garden in Cokeville with her grandmother. She learned if it grows in Cokeville, it can grow anywhere. How fun. Just wanted to pass on a Cokeville hello to Anne Albaugh and whoever her family here is, or was.
It's amazing how often Cokeville gets in the Deseret News, one way or another. Just recently was a quote from Verdi Dayton of Cokeville in an article by Amy K. Stewart about the women's conference she attended. Fun!
Of course, it's not just the Deseret News that puts Cokeville. I love this USA Today article from 2005 by Jennifer Kushlis, where it twice lists coach Todd Dayton in the statistics. Once as the "winningest" Wyoming football coach, and another where he was listed as the third "winningest" coach in the United States.

Advanage - The Wonder Cleaner
I'm just curious...how many people bought a bottle, or more, of Advanage, The Wonder Cleaner from the door to door salesman yesterday?
He gave his very rehearsed script, including the "excuse me, I'm new at this and very, very nervous". Even when I told him I don't buy products sold door to door he stayed very polite, "That's ok, we have a website. Let me finish showing you." He wasn't at all pushy. When he mentioned that it makes for only .85 cents a bottle, or whatever, I knew that it was probably $40 for the undiluted stuff. (I never found out the price)
SO, how many bought it? I asked him why he would spend time here. The obvious answer, door to door sales do very well in our area. I think he said they were staying in Heber, Utah.
My only two "makes you go hmmmm" moments came after he left. The first on his test bottle, what strength was it? The one capful to one bottle of water or the 2 to 1 strength (what I'm betting). Obviously 2 water to 1 Advanage dilution is a lot more than the .85 a bottle,or whatever. His test spray sure shined up my window and didn't streak. The brochure says 1 quart to 1 capfull (sic) for window cleaner. His bottle looked mighty green for only one capful...
The second was we got a little on politics and he said that there was a bombing in Frankfurt just 3 1/2 months ago. I said really? I hadn't heard that. He replied something like, "that's the stuff they don't want you to know about. They keep it out of the news so we don't realize it's out there. Then we keep our people in Iraq". Well, having lived in Germany, been to Frankfurt, and very interested in getting our troops home, I tried to find a bombing more recent than about 1985 in Frankfurt, couldn't find it. Makes you go hmmmm.
Does it work? DO you recommend the product? Let us know

Missing Trucker Found
Clark Sutherland, a Canadian truck driver, went missing on May 30, 2008. His 2000 Freightliner and all. Just disapperared.
His last fill-up was at the gas station in Cokeville. He called his wife and said he wasn't feeling well. Then, he disappeared. Obviously the family was very, very worried and even traveled his route to Cheyenne handing out fliers. He was said to have never missed a date on a load since he started in 1961 according to this story.
According to this article, Wyoming Highway Patrol couldn't find him, they checked major routes and hospitals. Last night, a truck driver found him dead in his truck at a rest area on 80. I'm glad the family gets closure after a week of uncertainty, but, No one checked the rest areas???

The Cokeville Chamber of Commerce is sending out it's initial mailing this week for vendors. All vendors from last year will receive a notice. If you are interested in having a booth, please contact Karla Toomer at 307 279 3471 and she can email or mail you a form.
This is a lot of fun! It's a great weekend to be in Cokeville, with the LDS Church celebrating Pioneer Days on Saturday there are lots of people in town.
This year the fair will be held at the town park and it's not too early or too late to reserve your booth space! Very modest registration fee.

Chamber of Commerce Meeting
The Chamber of Commerce met briefly after the presentation of the Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement presentation on Wednesday, June 4th. They discussed the Welcome to Cokeville sign to be place south of town. The rock place is still trying to get the size rock needed, weather has slowed down their ability to get our rock. Also, we need well casing, 2 - 18 ft. long pieces, 2 - 16 foot long pieces, 2 - 14 foot long pieces, if anyone has access to this we would appreciate it!
The Chamber and some visitors got a chuckle out of the town minutes from May where a church and state conflict was very evident. Others didn't get such a chuckle.
There is always room for more and the Cokeville Chamber welcomes new members, business owners and citizens interested in helping with the "welcome and tourism" part of the Chamber.
Chamber officers are: Carol Reed, Secretary, Stewart Petersen, President; Paul Phillips, Vice President; Clara Dayton, Treasurer.
