Wyoming State LIbrary Project Presentation

The Wyoming State Librarian, Lesley Boughton, and Wyoming Digital Information Specialist, Erin Kinney, arrived in Cokeville today in time to join in for lunch at the Senior Citizen's Center. (Yes, they reserved meals at least a day in advance). They were able to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by Shirley Toomer and Rose Harmon! Thanks ladies!

Upstairs, the chamber room was filling up quickly by 12:45. more chairs were added along the wall by 1:00 and it was standing room only after that. Karla Toomer welcomed everyone on behalf of the Cokeville Miracle Foundation. Charlotte Freeman welcomed everyone on behalf of the Cokeville Historical Society. It was mentioned that there had never been such great attendance at a Cokeville Historical Society meeting before!

The presentation really explained what the Wyoming State Library was trying to do. They have many old Wyoming newspapers indexed. They are currently search-able by any term. However, when browsing, not everything has a title, a page number, or a volume number. Also, there are some errors, articles listed that should just be included as part of a page, not singled out. They had many interesting stories. It ended at 12:55.

People were thanked for coming. Mrs. Boughton explained that Cokeville was receiving much of the training money and no more is currently available but she encouraged those still interested that hadn't received a training slot to tell Mrs. Kinney of their interest and she would keep a list.

All those that had been fortunate enough to register on-line for one of the training slots before they filled were asked to stay and pick up their training ticket. Anyone who had been told they were on a waiting or substitute list were told they could stay until the end to see if anyone had changed their minds. A few people stuck it out until everyone had picked up their training times and some got in on a training session. Not everyone in attendance was able to but hopefully they will in the future. WSL said they have lots of work to do!
